Random Thoughts

First off, I want to address the lack of daily outfit posts. I've quite loved my outfits so far this week, but I've not really been inspired to take any photos. I'm guessing it is because I haven't been sleeping very well this week or exercising so I'm feeling very blah, not in a photogenic mood. I've debated recreating each of the outfits and taking photos of each all in one session. We'll see...

-----

I've recently re-discovered ebay. It's not that I've ever really forgotten it was there, I've just not felt the urge to search and discover treasures on there. Sure I visit various vintage clothing stores on there, but I have placed a bid on there in years.

Randomly perusing the site last week, I came across a really cute colorblock dress. I quite liked it, placed a bid and won it at a very reasonable price.
I knew when bidding that it would probably be a touch too big for me, but I couldn't resist. However, it never occurred to me that it would be too long for me. The dress, as seen in the picture the seller took, goes a few inches below my knees. I didn't love that.

I've been wanting to get into sewing, doing my own alterations and making my own clothes for quite some time. I've been looking into purchasing a sewing machine as well. I very nearly impulsively purchased one last night at Target. My problem is I'm not sure what sorts of features I should be looking for when I purchase one. I'll have to keep researching I guess. For now, if I want to wear this dress, some serious alterations need to take place. The Clothes Horse has inspired me to go ahead and do it.

Last night, I took a seam ripper to the seam at the waist line and deconstructed the dress. I cut off several inches and begun reshaping it. I ran out of time to put it back together however so it's lying in pieces on my floor. As soon as I have time, I'm going to borrow Traci's sewing machine and put it back together.

If you have any tips for gathering the fabric to attach it to an elastic band, let me know. That is the only part of this project I can't visualize in my head and that worries me.

Wish me luck!

-----

Last night when I was at Target, I also purchased a Kimono Dress from the GO International line.

I fell in love with the detailed pleats on the shoulder. I didn't love the way my body lost any semblance of a womanly shape in it though. I know I could accessorize it with some sort of belt or something at the waist. I bought it because I have one belt that may work, but I want more options. How would you accentuate this dress with accessories. Do tell.

That's all for now. Sorry it was so long!

300!

Well, looks like this here is my 300 post! I've not really celebrated any milestones on my blog before, but I just thought it worth mentioning today.

When I first started my blog, I wasn't really sure what direction I wanted to take or what I would even write about. I had been lurking other people's blogs for months. I had wanted to start my own blog, but didn't think I'd have anything worth posting about.

Then one day, I came across some blogger etiquette tips somewhere. One of them said that if you leave comments on some one's blog, it's proper to have your own blog that they can go to should they want to. That made me think, maybe I should start a blog after all.
So I did.

The name "It's because I think too much" is pretty self explanatory. I think a lot about a lot of different things. I liked it because it left it pretty open as to what I might write about. I'm not a mommy, so it's not a mommy blog. I'm not married so it's not one of those I heart my husband blogs. I have so many different interests, so I can really make it limited to one theme. I'm sure the long time readers of this blog know that you can never be sure what to expect from me.

My first post in November 2007 was just a rant about about social networking sites. I didn't really like the direction that this led me in, I didn't want it to be a rant and rave blog like my myspace blog had been. No one wants to read pure negativity. So my blog writing went away.

In January 2008, I started up again with a bunch of random posts. It just kind of picked up from there. My posts have mostly followed the events of my life and my current obsessions since then. Some days I post like crazy, others I might not post at all.

300 posts later, I've received my first award. Veggie Mom over at Eat Your Veggies! has bestowed upon me the "Sharing the Love" award.

This award was created by Crystal, who's son Noah received a heart transplant. She created it in honor of the donor that saved her son's life.

In order to accept this award, I have to link back to Crystal's Blog and then share the award with other blogs that I read and love. There are a lot of deserving blogs to choose from, but here are a few that I want to share the love with.

Q & A

A while back, I asked you all to ask me any questions that you've had on your mind. Now I will post them along with my answers.

Paint and Soul asks...
"what is your fave Dr. Seuss book and why?? Or if he wasn't your fave, then your fave children's book and why?"
Good question!
This one is kind of tough for me, I've never been able to pick just one favorite. I've always loved reading. In elementary school, I was always at the top of my grade in the summer reading contests. My favorite Dr. Seuss book would probably have to be either One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish or Oh, the Places You'll Go!
I also really loved to read The Babysitters Club series and The Boxcar Children series.

alicatstrut asks...
"Do you dream in black and white or color? Full stories, images, vignettes?"
That is an awesome question! I don't always remember my dreams, but when I do, they are in color most of the time and usually full stories. I do have a few random ones that don't fit that mold though. Growing up two of my scariest dreams were ones that didn't fit the mold, maybe that is why they scared me so much.

Ronnica asks...
"What is your favorite thing about the blogosphere?"
I love how I can find people that I have stuff in common with and also different types of people that I never would've met in the place that I live. Also, the majority of the blogging community are so supportive of one another. You don't often find such supportive people in day-to-day life.
"What do you want to be/do when you "grow up"?"
When I grow-up... Let's see, what is considered grown up?
Well, I have so many interests, I have never been able to narrow it down to any one thing. I think there are many things that I could be happy with doing for the rest of my life. I think ultimately, whatever path I take in life, I just want to be happy.

That's all for now. If you want your question included in the next round, don't hesitate to ask! Again, I don't care how serious or how goofy the questions are.

Weekend recap.

The weekend went by far too quickly for me!

Friday night, Sean and I went out to Iggy's for some dinner. Our waiter was such a weirdo, but our food was really good. After, we came back to my house and watched Entourage and this old show called Fletch. It was funny in a "this movie is nuts" sort of way. Then, after that we fell asleep watching The Break Up.

Saturday, Steph and I were supposed to go to Amy's pool to hang out. Amy ended up caught up at the furniture store. Steph and I hung out with our little step-sisters for a while (Steph, I want those pictures!), then we wandered Target for an hour. I got another Gryson bag for really cheap and some studded sandals while I was there. Finally we were able to meet Amy at her pool. We girls hung out by the pool and swam for a bit before we had to leave for our evening plans.

I went out with some girl friends Saturday night. Jamie, Nicole, Brandi, Anna, Neyra and I went out to the Sky Bar for a night of dancing. I had an absolute blast despite the fact that the Sky Bar was void any remotely cute guys to dance with. All of the pictures are on Nicole's camera so I'll have to post them when I get them from her.

Sunday, we celebrated my mom's birthday. We all went up there for dinner.
[Sean collapses when the camera is pulled out.]

[Clearly she's happy about Steph's gift]

[My mom poses with the lamp Adam bought her.]

[We're oh so attractive when distracted]

[Randall the cameraman]

[Steph and Jon]

Now my mom wanted to get some family pictures taken while we were all together. Here are some of the outtakes from said photoshoot.
[Yeah, all of our eyes are closed. Go us.]

[My posing skills come in handy...]

[I'm buff, I can pick up Adam]

[...and then we almost fall]

[The wind does miraculous things to our hair]

[Walking back to the house after pictures]

[There were no candles to be found so we improvised a bit...]

Dinner was lots of fun and after we played a little Wackee 6, which I almost won!

That was my weekend! How was yours?

Black & Blue

I felt like messing around with the navy blue and black color scheme again. I threw some old pieces together with my new shoes and this belt that I picked up at Target for $2.50. It was a peculiar choice in my eyes, but I like how it turned out.

Car rant

I really don't like to rant and rave on my blog very often, but I just feel the need to share this today.

It's no secret, I hate my car.
It is always one thing after another with that car. Every time that I get some money saved up for a down payment on a new car, something happens to my car. Most recently it was the flat tire that resulted in needing new tires. Before that, it was the fuel pump. Before that, some jerk lost control of his car and crashed into me, nearly totaling the thing. It just never ends.

Well a little over a week ago the air condition in my car just stopped working. No warning. It would no longer blow cold air, just hot desert air. Sean spent some time researching it and we spent a night looking at it. We ended up deciding something had a leak because we could hear air hissing out somewhere in my engine. I decided to take it in to a shop to get looked at.

The diagnosis?
The condenser has a hole in it.
It is going to cost me $400.
Perfect.

I seriously hate my car and I think it hates me back too.

Ebates revisited

Last week I told you about a website that I had discovered called ebates. Just a quick recap, Ebates is a website that gives you money back for the things you're already shopping for online. Just quickly scanning through the list, I've seen many, many websites that I'm already shopping on regularly.

Friday, I had realized that I had not pre-ordered Breaking Dawn yet so I went on Ebates, found Barnes & Noble on their list, clicked on the link to the site and I was all set up. There was nothing else to do but shop for the book. Two days later I got notice that my cash back had been credited to my account. Easy.

So here is what I suggest, take a few minutes right now to sign up so it is all done. Then, when you decide to buy something online, stop by Ebates first to see if the store you'd like to shop at is part of the ebates program. Don't forget, if you sign up using my referral, we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase!

Quick side note, my weekend recap may not be published till tomorrow. I'm waiting on some pictures that I know you'll want to see.

Closet Space

Just saw this picture over on fashionista...

Closet space and organization has been on my mind lately as I discussed earlier this week. Between Paint and Soul's comment about using her shoes and bags as decor in her bedroom and seeing the way this person's shoes are organized, ideas are forming in my head. It'll be tricky to make it work with what little room I have. We shall see...

I don't usually feel like a very organized person so I was happy to see that at least my clothes are sorted in kind of a similar fashion, by color.

I just need more space to hang them is all...

Ebates

Just heard about this website from a friend on Kaboodle. It sounded interesting and I shop online all the time so I figured I'd try it out. I haven't actually used it as I don't have any purchases to make at the moment, but when I do I'll tell you more about it. For now what I know is that Ebates is a shopping site that gives you up to 25% Cash Back every time you shop online. You can shop at over 900 stores including Sephora, Zappos, Barnes & Noble.com, West Elm, Target, Victoria's Secret, Bluefly, eLUXURY and Expedia. Plus you get additional savings with exclusive coupons, free shipping offers, and limited-time sales!

If you decided to sign up with Ebates, we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase! If you already shop online, what do you have to lose?

Happy shopping!

*Update* I just used Ebates to pre-order Breaking Dawn on Barnes & Noble.

Pioneer Day

Yesterday, we Utahns celebrated Pioneer Day. My company is part of a national corporation so I did not get the day off because its only a state holiday. However, my boss kicked us out of the office around noon. Hooray!

A whole group of my friends and family went to the Bees game that afternoon. Here are some pictures from the game.

Random Thoughts

Wendy and Traci have gotten my quite addicted to So You Think You Can Dance this summer. I've always liked this show, just not really ever had time for it.
Now I've become obsessed.
My favorite is Katee despite the fact that she had a really bad attitude in Vegas.

Last night, my mom called right as Katee and Twitch were about to do their contemporary. Inwardly I fought with myself, I love talking to my mom and I miss her so much, but... but... Katee! Twitch! Contemporary!

Family won out.
I answered the phone.

We're talking, making plans for her birthday dinner, talking about her being in Portland, etc.

Meanwhile Twitch is dancing to one of my favorite Duffy songs with Amy Winehouse. Is making out really called dancing? Wow! I wish someone would kiss me like that.
But wait, no... Is that Amy? This girl is much healthier looking and much prettier. That's right, her name is Katee.

Torn between watching the dance and listening to my loving mother, my brain was pulling apart.

Again, family won out.
I shut my brain off to the dancing and focused on my mother.

I missed most of the dancing sadly, but luckily I was able to find it on YouTube.
For your viewing pleasure...

Good, right?

------

I've never really given much thought to what Pop'rs were before. I've seen the term around the internet, but didn't think too much of it. Yesterday I realized them for what they are: Awesome! I don't really have a problem eating fruits and vegetables, I love them! However, if you are struggling with getting enough fruits and veggies in your diet and with eating healthy, you really out to find out about Pop'rs too. They sound awesome! I've gotta try them too!

That's all for my random thoughts at the moment...
Carry on!

Bruised

So here is the outfit I created based on the Rag & Bones outfit I mentioned a couple posts ago.

It has taken a long time to be able to wear navy and black together. Now I quite like it.

I bought these pants with summer in mind. I hate how most of my full length pants, even my skinnies, cover up all my cute summer shoes. I bought these pants at a shorter length so that I wouldn’t have to deal with this problem.

Two things, I'm loving these shoes so much and I've also decided I don't like posing in grass.

Forever Twenty Two

Monday was a day that called for a little bit of retail therapy.

The A/C in my car went out last week and I haven’t been able to get it fixed yet. Driving to the mall for my part-time job (for the discount) I was sweating through my dress in the desert heat of Utah. I was in such a hurry to get out of my car that I ended up in the mall with lots of time to spare before my shift started. I ended up walking through Gadzooks, which carries Forever 21 products. Without even trying, I ended up leaving with four items.

I tried on the top half of this outfit with a pair of black skinnies, but it didn’t seem right. I tried on the skirt instead and I liked it. That is how I ended up wearing three of my new items in one outfit; the flower ring, the scarf and the skirt.

The skirt is all wrinkled from sitting at my desk all day. That’s life…

Inspiration

I think I will have to imitate this outfit from the Rag & Bone Resort 2009 Collection.

Step one, stretch my skeleton so that I'm this tall.
That's it.
I think I have everything else I need.
