Soak Up the Sun

About this look...
When I moved over 600 miles closer to the Pacific ocean three years ago, I imagined I would be spending many weekends sitting in on sun-warmed sand while watching the waves. As it turns out, I haven't taken advantage of my proximity to the beach nearly as often as I should. I'll blame it on 22 nausea-inducing miles of winding roads through the Santa Cruz mountains.

So, when my roommate invited me along on one of her regular beach excursions, I decided it was high time that I dip my toes into the chilly northern California waves.

A fellow beach patron saying hello!

Squint really hard into the distance; you can almost see Monterey!

As usual, I put way too much thought into what to wear to the beach. It was going to be relatively warm, but these beaches often have chill-inducing breezes. My usual getting-dressed exercise of putting on an outfit and exchanging one item at a time until I'm satisfied resulted in an outfit similar to one I wore in LA a few weeks back.

It was perfect for splashing in the water, sitting on the warm sand, and daydreaming while watching the waves crash on the shore!

Tortoise "Kinshasa" sunglasses - c/o TOMS via LuckyFABB | Chalcedony stud earrings - c/o Tacori | Dip-dyed jacket - Benetton + DIY (how-to here!) | Crochet tank - H&M | Fluro pink satchel - Cambridge Satchel Co. via Poshmark | Pyramid stud bracelet - Blue Vanilla | Lucite bangle - c/o LuckyFABB | Black high-waist shorts - Anthropologie | Nude and gold "Archer" sandals - DV by Dolce Vita

Thought of the day...
What local attraction do you wish you took advantage of more? I'd love to hear about it!

I can't remember if you are in the city, but I highly recommend Baker Beach on the other side of the presidio. Just stay away from the "clothing optional" far side. HAHA!

Your Cambridge bag is electric!!! I love it! Haha I too do not take advantage of the beach here nearly enough. And I too blame it on the distance - the long subway ride could potentially be nausea-inducing in it's own way ;)

Ha! I know! At a vintage shop in Santa Cruz, the shopkeeper actually said, "Gee, that bag sure is bright!" I wasn't sure if she thought that was a good thing or not. ;)

Glad I'm not the only one! And absolutely, the subway can be very nausea-inducing.
