Five Favorites: Dry Shampoos for Brunette Hair

For years I've been on the hunt for my perfect dry shampoo. I have super fine hair so it gets oily really easily. And then there is the fact that many dry shampoos are white so they make my hair look super ashy. I've tried dozens and dozens of products and to date, these are my top five.

  1. Batiste Dry Shampoo
This is one of the newest to my arsenal. It's been recommended to me on many occasions as a relatively affordable option, but I only just tried it. I love how the tint of color keeps my hair from becoming ashy, but doesn't come off on my hands.

  2. Cake Hair & Body Powder
This option is by far the best smelling of the bunch. Seriously, it smells so good that I could eat it. The color is great and the fact that it's not aerosol makes this a good one to toss in your suitcase. The only downside is the container seems to 'leak' a little so I always have to put it in a a little baggie.
    Buy at Manhattanite $18

  3. Bumble & Bumble Hair Powder
This was the first dry shampoo that I found to meet my needs. It soaked up all excess oil with a colored powder that maintained the color integrity. I've heard a lot of people don't like this product because it can come off on your hands, and probably clothing, if you touch your hair frequently. It was never a problem for me however.
    Buy at Bloomingdales $35

  4. Ambiance Volumizing Dry Shampoo
This colored formula comes in a handy brush applicator with a lid. That means this is a great choice to toss in your handbag for on the go touch-ups.
    Buy at Green Cupboards $15

  5. Dove Invigorating Dry Shampoo
While not tinted, this product does not change the color of my hair. When applied properly, the aerosol formula blends right in. This is a great choice for when you run out of an option that is only available online or at a salon because this can be found at most drugstores and even grocery stores. Plus, you can't beat that price!
    Buy at drugstore.com $4

While I can only speak for my brunette hair, most of these products come in multiple shades. I'd recommend them for locks of any color.

Now it's your turn; what dry shampoo do you love?

Batiste and Dove are my tried and true, as well!

I would love to see how you feel the Big Sexy Hair's Powder Play compares to these. It isn't a dry shampoo, but I've found it is useful in doing the trick.
