My, What Puffy Shoulders You Have

I don't consider myself an expert thrift shopper by any means. Sometimes it's hard to look beyond the actual item and see how it could be worn with items in my closet. I usually stick to looking for jewelry I can deconstruct for future DIY projects, but from time to time I do find some treasures. This jacket is one such success.

The collar-less blazer is made out of a velvety fabric with a sparkly floral design, but, without a doubt, the best part is the absurdly padded shoulders. It's such a statement piece that I knew whatever I wore with it had to be relatively simple.

I wore this look to the grand opening party for Madewell in SF. I was looking forward to shopping, but the store was so crowded that I decided t would have to wait till a less crazy time. So instead I just walked around and chatted a bit before taking off. The store was set up really nice, the staff was extremely helpful and levelheaded despite the madness, and the merchandise is lovely (of course!). So glad we finally have a local Madewell and I can't wait to go back!
