Childlike thoughts

When I was in my car today, that Gloria Estefan song came on, "Rhythm is gonna get you". I've known that song since I was way little because she is one of my mom's favorite singers. So I'm singing and dancing down the road when suddenly a childhood memory came to mind. That song use to scare me a little bit when I was younger.
Why, you ask?
Well, the song starts out with these lyrics:

"At night when you turn off all the lights
Theres no place that you can hide
Oh no, the rhythm is gonna getcha

In bed, throw the covers on your head
You pretend like you are dead
But I know it
The rhythm is gonna getcha"

I didn't really know what rhythm was, all I knew is that it was gonna get me and that terrified me.
I don't know how old I was when I finally realized what rhythm was, but I get it now and let me tell you, rhythm gets me all the time now.

Its funny though to think of all the things we misunderstood or that went right over our heads as innocent children. Just the other day, my sister was talking about how when she was a child, she thought a carpool was a car that had a pool in it. I'm not going to lie, I thought that as well. I know there are adult jokes slipped into pretty much every kids movie. I didn't get them back then, but I sure get them now.

Ah, the wisdom that years bring.
